Fosse City
Knight (2)
2-0

Fosse finally recorded only their 2nd win of the season with a hard fought win over Harrow. With Fosse having not played for a few weeks, everybody was eager to get the game underway, which was evident by the hard work of the Fosse ground staff in emptying the puddles that littered the pitch. Bowerman led the team in brushing and bailing out the puddles, whilst after a fascinating geography lecture from Goddard, Charlie Dimmock (Jon) re-turfed the penalty area. The game was on!
Fosse started positively, and within the first 10 minutes, excellent work in the midfield saw James Knight clean through on the Harrow goal. As he closed in on goal, thoughts flashed through Fosse players heads as to whether he would fall over, but the big man kept his composure and beautifully curled the ball into the bottom corner. This was no more than Fosse deserved.
Fosse were lifted by the goal and tackles from Carter, Mills, Reece and Barnett epitomized the determination not to let the lead slip. Bayliss continued to lead the line with Knight and Barnett both joining in at every opportunity, and with every passing minute the game was poised for another goal. At the other end Fosse defended admirably and Norton and the back 4 kept the Harrow attack at bay.
With the first half time break getting close, Carter stormed from defense, ran as far as his legs would carry him, and after having reached the half way line, slid Knight through. Once again Knight showed great skill to knock the ball past the keeper, and although the ball threatened to hold up in the mud, it duly rolled over the line. With the half time whistle sounding a few minutes later Fosse found themselves in an excellent position.
Harrow started the 2nd half very well, and although they pushed on and held the ball better, the Fosse defense refused to let them through. A commanding performance that resulted in a deserved clean sheet.
At the other end Fosse really should have sealed the win to make the rest of the game more comfortable. First Barnett contrived to head over from inside the 6 yard box, then Bayliss blazed wide (on his right foot). Not wanting to be out down Carter got in on the act. Brilliant work by Goddard down the left resulted in a fantastic cross to the back post. Carter controlled, waited for the defender to slide in, then slammed the ball straight at the keeper from 8 yards. Cry's of 'You Cock' were heard from the Fosse number 11. With only minutes remaining Goddard once more produced the goods on the left. This time it was the roaming right back Reece who popped up on the edge of the Harrow 6 yard box, and after the ball splashed around, the Harrow defender managed to get the block in. Goddard couldn't believe what he was seeing, then again neither could anyone else. In the dying moments Bayliss had one final chance, but his screaming left foot drive flew inches past the upright
Fosse stood firm to the end, and battled for the full 90 minutes. A deserved 3 points has lifted the spirits, and the boys now hope to start climbing the tableNext up, Hat & Beaver, Away @ Lutterworth Town
