The 2000 Welsh Schools Championships July 6th

Top spot and big 'pic' in the press went to Bethan Strange the under 15 champion at 1500m, who clocked her PB of 5.02.08 at the Welsh Schools championships at Carmarthen. Big Headline though for the report on that meet was Lara Richards who won long and triple jumps at 5.42m and 11.02m respectively.

Rising star Donna Porazinkski won both 400m and 400m hurdles in 64.1s and 56.9s and was awarded the JDB Williams Memorial trophy for her outstanding performances on the day. Emily Skucek won Javelin at 40.21m, which was also a  PB and Lowri Roberts took second place in the 100m hurdles.

In the Senior boys events James Nasrat won the 800m in a time of 1.57.8, and was second in the 400m hurdles with a PB of 56.9s. Andrew Sims took second in the 2km steeple-chase also in a PB of 6.30.37.

Middle girls events saw success for Amy Prothero in the long jump, taking first place with a leap of 5.17m.  Liz Callicott also took 3rd place in the 300m.
