The Welsh League is a joint male and female league, teams are scored on nearly a full timetable of events for each sex. The league is structured into 5 divisions of varying sizes, 1 & 2 consist of 8 teams the others of 6. Newport currently has 2 teams, one in Div 1 and one in Div 3.
This year we started really well, 2nd place at Brecon was excellent and the points split fairly evenly between the men and women. Next round was not so good, whilst the men did out score the women it was nothing to write home about. We should have done better at our home venue, but fixture clashed put paid to that. Deeside was a disaster by all accounts, no athletes or officials - we were very lucky to survive this year, which was just as well as the B team had actually gained promotion to Division 2.

No idea but Newport were last and Deeside won the league again. |
As I don't have the final round results due to circumstances beyond my control, all I can say is that Deeside won the league with a grand slam of 4 wins to retain their crown, whilst the South Wales sides struggled again and we finished 6th just above relegation.
Deeside AC are champions, Torfaen and Llanelli are relegated.
