Newport Harriers brought their Welsh Senior campaign to a close at the final match in Aberdare last weekend. Dave Proffitt and Chris Oxley shone with both setting two new Personal Bests. Steve Wadley, Darren McAttee and Jason Leach also waded in with a new Personal Bests in Steeplechase, 400m and Discus respectively. Jessica Robinson in her debut season for the Harriers continued to improve taking 2 firsts and a second in the throwing events helping the Harriers to finish second behind new Champions Swansea. Steve Leach and Lyn Wreford the Harrier’s Welsh Senior Team management team were pleased with the squads overall performance this year. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances we were unable to send a team to North Wales which may well reflect in our final standing. However with our junior and youth athletes coming into the squad we have a healthy balance of young athletes and experience, we shall be fighting next season to gain promotion to Division 1 with the Welsh Senior Championship our goal.
