Although the day was wet and miserable the younger members of Newport Harriers enjoyed some fantastic performances. In the under 13 girls the 6 girls who competed Chloe, Melissa, Bethan, Olanikie, Aimee and Kodie won 9 "A" events and 3 "B" events and appeared to enjoy the whole afternoon.

The under 13 boys weren't as successful but still managed to enjoy themselves and but in some good performances. At under 15 the story was the other way round with the boys outshining the girls. The throwers were particularly impressive with Tom Aviss, Tom Morgan and Richard Williams winning 4 "A" events and 3 "B" events between them.

The relay squad of James, Michael, Ashley and Tomas had a fine win over a strong Cardiff team by just 0.1 sec. The boys won their section by a wide margin, and are probably the strongest under 15 section in the whole of Wales. Although the girls didn't match the boys a special mention must be made of the 4 x 100m relay squad who AS ALWAYS won. The older athletes where a bit thin on the ground but the team came third beating Cwmbran for the first time this year, but again the club just missed out on the main final and again contest the plate final on the 19th of August.
