Newport Harriers Masters shone once again at the annual Masters Championships that were held at Newport for the first time. One of the best races of the day was as expected over 800m. The League had shown the race would be hotly contested and so it turned out to be with a sprint finish good enough to grace any championship. Rhondda's Sean Price won from team mate Bilal Namani with Phil Crane of Neath 3rd. Newport's Brett Davies followed them in with Darryn McAtee in close pursuit.
The sprints also provided a number of classy races with some of the UK's top master sprinters on show. Chris Millard provided the fastest time of the day at 11.3, good enough to win some senior races, whilst London's Ricky Fox was next fastest on 12.2. The pair did the double in their respective age groups winning the 200's. Newport's Keith Powell and Steve Berney were well placed just off the pace, whilst Gavin Belcher continued on his road to recovery with a solid run over 200.
In the field Rob Eales picked up a hat trick of medals in the throws whilst Keith picked up a win in the Vault and 3 silvers in the Discus, High Jump and Long Jump.
