Harriers Junior Middle Distance Shine.

Just a week after posting personal bests and Championship Best Performances in the Welsh Indoor 800m, Newport Harriers athletes returned excellent performances in the 1500m event. U.K.A. Rules do not permit junior athletes (U13 – U17) to run more than one race of over 400m distance on the same day. This Ruling has meant the 1500m Indoor Championships had to be incorporated in the Celtic Cup held at N.I.A.C. on Saturday 3rd February. In the Under 17 boys 1500m race, Jonathan Morgan took the gold medal, smashing his previous P.B. and creating a new Championship Best time of 4 min 06.1. Team mate Nick Johnson came home in 4th place with a good time of 4 min 11.6.

The Under 15 boys ensured the podium was covered in the white vests with black and gold bands as they swept the boards in their race. Elliott Hardee won the gold medal in a time of 4 min 25.9; Daniel Chesworth took silver in 4 min 26.2 and Chris Carpanini the bronze in 4 min 36.9. Emrys Penny was 11th in 5 min 07.8. The times recorded by Jonathan, Elliot, Daniel and Chris were all outstanding Personal Best performances.
