Newport HarriersMembership Information |
Attached is your membership form for the year 1 April 2003 to 31 March 2004. Club membership fees for the various age groups are shown plus fees for the Athletic Association of Wales (AAW) registration scheme which came into full effect from 1 April 1997 and which is explained below.
The Athletic Association of Wales Constitution states that all athletes who wish to compete in events held under the jurisdiction of the AAW must be registered from 1 April 1997.
All athletes who wish to compete whether club members or not will have to register with the Athletic Association of Wales (AAW). The registration scheme will be rigorously enforced for any event under IAAF, BAF or AAW rules.
To join the club and register for competition you should complete in full the attached Club Membership and AAW registration forms and return it, together with the joining, membership and AAW fees to me, as soon as possible.
The AAW form is in triplicate, please return all three copies, subsequently the yellow copy will be returned to you, this will serve as a receipt until an AAW card is issued. The club will send the white copy, with your registration fee to the AAW office, and retain the green copy of the form for our own recording purposes. The forms require no carbon and should be completed with a biro type pen, press hard when writing for the carbon to have full effect.
A registration card similar in size to a credit card will
be issued to you which you must sign immediately on receipt. The card must
be carried at all times when competing, it will identify you as the registered
athlete when entering competitions and booking in on the appropriate day
(until
you receive your card the yellow copy will act as a temporary card and
should be carried for identification if requested).
The registration fees are as follows:-
Senior Athletes and Vets £10.00 per annum
Athletes aged 11 to 17 years £ 5.00 per annum
Athletes under 11 years £ 5.00 per annum
Registration will be for twelve months commencing 1 April
each year.
The registration number is unique to the member. It
will be as constant as possible and will provide useful statistical information.
The number comprises six sections which are :-
Year: The last two digits of the year of registration eg. 1999 shown as 99
District: Each district or area is issued a number from 1 to 8 similar to existing counties.
Club: Each club in a district or area is allocated its own number. With eight districts, there is space for two digits.
Club Each member has a four digit number, allocated by their own club. This number
Membership: should not change unless the member changes clubs.
Age Group: For the age groups under 11 - 17 a single digit 1 to 5 is used.
Seniors and Veterans are shown by a letter S or V.
Please Note: The age group entered on your card is the age group you are in at 1 April of that particular year.

Should you require further information please contact me but NOTE, THAT IF YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPETE! Processing your membership application and AAW registration will take approximately 14 DAYS and you must take this into consideration in relation to your first planned competition.
The club is always grateful for assistance. If you are a social member or parent willing to assist in either social or competition organisation in any way whatsoever, please let me know and I will register you with the AAW at no cost so that you are covered by their insurance. This applies to every helper, even those making tea!
All membership details will be held in computer files. Any member who objects to their records being placed on computer should write, stating their objection, to the Membership Secretary. The list will not be used for any purpose other than registration and club records without prior consent.

If you require exemption and have not yet applied, please do so as soon as possible. Forms may be obtained from the Club office.
