YORKSHIRE SMASHES P.B.

Under the tutelage of Tony Lewis, Newport Harrier Antonia Yorkshire smashed her personal best to new figures of 12.9 in the under 17 women’s 80m hurdles. This has put her just behind club-mate Hayley Davies in the Welsh rankings as the girls occupy 6th and 7th places in the Welsh rankings making them the highest ranked East Wales U17 women hurdlers. Emrys Penny enjoyed his first outing over barriers as he finished the 1500m steeplechase in 5 min 41.6.

In the field Ashley Jones set another new PB in the High jump with an excellent clearance at 1.78m. The Newport Under 17 sprinters dominated their events as the men took a clean sweep at 100 and 200 in both A and B string events, Joe Smith got reward for the hard work we see him putting in, whilst Oliver Edwards underlined his potential once again. Lemarl Freckleton was so determined that he literally threw himself over the line, but was rewarded with a PB and a couple of grazes. Not to be out done Shaleena Graham was also a winner and Antonio Yorkshire showed her speed and strength from the hurdles can be translated onto the flat.
