National Young Athletes League Yate 20th July 2008
The final round of the National Young Athlete's League was held over the water
in Yate. Newport needed a decent performance to stave off relegation, and
although the match was tough, the youngsters rose to occasion and we look home
and dry. Results from other matches seem to have gone as expected but are not
all in yet.

Powered by Supa Stripey Socks, a craze started by Melissa Arthur and Bethan
Hill-Howells, Mike Payne 56.1, Daniel Chesworth 55.3, James Morgan 56.8, Elliott
Hardee 54.5 set a new Newport Harrier Under 15 boys 4x400m record in a time of 3
min 42.7 obliterating the former record by exactly 10 seconds, a record that had
stood since 1979. The quartet were helped on their way by tremendous support of
their clubmates in Yate also complete with stripey socks, when Newport Harriers
are competing sun glasses are a must!
Kyle Arnold got his hurdles career off to a flying start with a 15.8 after just
two session of coaching with hurdles coach Tony Lewis. Whilst in javelin Melissa
Arthur threw a new Personal Best of 27.93m to go 50th in the U.K. rankings. A
total of 14 known Personal Bests were recorded by the Harriers at this match as
shown in the results below
