Disastrous outing to Coventry

Newport Harriers continued to struggle in the UK Women's League Division 4, it is almost certain that this will now be our last season in the National League for some time. This is mostly due to our lack of strength in the middle distance and jumping events. We covered the throws but not with any great result, especially as we had to resort to using juniors. At the end of the day there have just been too many gaps for the team to have any chance of survival resulting in athletes covering unfamiliar events with performances below that of the Harriers own under 15's.

That said there were some decent performances to write home about, Rhianne Jones ran superbly well in the 400m just managing to hold of the challenge from the Aldershot runner on the line. Emma Plow had a good day in the B string sprint events taking a brace of 3rd places coming out on top of a couple of very close finishes. The only other athlete to get into the frame was Lisa Boswell who has become a consistent good hammer thrower this year, over 30m just about every time of asking, this time though it was her Javelin escapades that paid dividends for the club taking 3rd in the B string.
