Only one Harrier entered the indoor pentathlon championships, Keith Powell did quite well but faded badly in the final event to slip to 5th after being 4th for the whole competition up until then. This was Keith's first ever pentathlon so technically everything except a rather poor long jump were PB's. The high light of the day was the new club record in the high jump as well as the overall point total. |

A few more Harriers made it to Lee Valley for the individual championships, it was good to see Brett Davies back running again after a long lay off. He wasn't too far off the pace despite his obvious race rustiness, time was respectable. Craig Russell stepped up for the 400m, it was a hard and fast race which saw Craig end up 3rd in the B Final and 7th overall. Keith Powell had a busy weekend, and picked up a couple of medals for his efforts. The 60m was a close race, Keith just scraped into the final as joint 6th fastest and improved his PB finishing 6th from 7 in the final. The long jump was much more clear cut for the Bronze and in the Vault, the winner nearly failed his opening height, so a near miss. Carrying a bit of a calf strain the high jump turned out to be a decent performance, with a coupe of near misses at 1.50 which could have claim another medal if count back had been favourable. Dave Proffitt had his target set for the 3K, but unfortunately found the a bit tougher than anticipated and faded to 5th in the end. |
